Swingline Shredders With the Right Security Level
Paper shredders offer different levels of security depending on the model. The higher level of security it has, the more protection it offers. These levels range from one to seven and the level determines the cut or strip size of the documents. A model with a security level of two cuts one sheet of paper into approximately 34 strips. A level four crosscuts paper into over 400 pieces while a level seven shreds paper into 13,000 pieces or more. High-security level shredders are ideal for discarding classified or highly sensitive information.

Swingline Shredders Can Handle More Than Just Paper
Some Swingline shredders shred only paper. The number of sheets that the machine can shred at one time also depends on the model as some can handle around seven sheets at one time, while others can accommodate 200 or more. There are also shredders that can destroy non-paper media including credit cards, DVDs, CDs, paper clips, and staples. The majority of these heavy-duty shredders have a separate slot for credit cards and discs and they often require manual insertion of the non-paper media. These also eliminate the need to remove paper clips or staples before shredding.

Swingline Shredder Features to Enhance Use
Select Swingline shredders have added features to enhance security and use. This includes a lockable chamber that protects unauthorized users from accessing the shreds during and after the shredding occurs. The lock is programmable and requires users to enter a PIN to open it. Other features found include ultra-quiet operation to keep noise levels low in the home or office. Many also use technology to prevent jams from occurring by indicating on the LED display when you are exceeding the capacity. Some models even have self-cleaning cutters that reduce build-up automatically to prevent jamming.

What Is an Auto Feed Swingline Shredder?
An auto feed shredder allows you to shred stacks of paper at one time. Generally, you simply stack the papers in the designated tray and the machine does the work for you. It shreds the entire stack allowing you to move on to other tasks. The shred rate is an indicator of how fast each model works.

Do Swingline Shredders Have an Auto Off Feature?
Most Swingline shredders do have an auto off feature known as Intelligent Power Save™. This function shuts the shredder off after several minutes of inactivity to help conserve energy. When you insert paper into the shredder after it has powered off, the machine automatically wakes back up.

What Is the Bin Capacity of a Swingline Shredder Hold?
The amount of shredded paper and non-paper media a shredder holds depends on the model. Some hold around 5-gallons while others can hold 12-gallons or more.
